College of the Month Dickinson College/ Scholarship of the Month Jackie Robinson Scholarship

Dickinson College is a private, liberal-arts college located in suburban Carlisle, PA. Founded in 1783, it has a total undergraduate enrollment of 2,396. A bachelor of arts or sciences is available for students in 22 disciplinary majors and 20 interdisciplinary majors. The most popular majors are international trade/business/commerce, biology/biological sciences, psychology, economics, and political science and government.

Dickinson offers more than 100 student organizations, with an additional 23 varsity sports teams. Sports offered range from baseball, basketball, and football, to lacrosse, tennis, and squash. There are both intramural and club sports that students can become involved in. Students interested in giving back to their communities can participate in study-abroad programs, partnerships with centers and organizations, or other volunteer opportunities.

The current estimated yearly cost of attendance, including tuition, books, food, housing and ancillary fees, is $62,354. To help cover these costs, Dickinson offers students scholarships, grants, and loans. Work-study opportunities are also available to help pay off college costs. Scholarship of the Month: Jackie Robinson Scholarship


Each year, the Jackie Robinson Foundation provides several scholarships of up to $6,000 to promising minority students, renewable annually for four years. To be eligible for this scholarship, you must demonstrate leadership potential and financial need. An online application, photograph of yourself, letter of recommendation, and SAT/ACT test scores are needed.
