MCSM RamPage Staffers Make New Year’s Resolutions…

New Year's Resolutions

By Beverly Danquah,  Editor in Chief

A New Year’s resolution is an act of self-improvement in which one starts or stops doing something in the new year. This year, 2015, writers from the MCSM RamPage decided to start off right by establishing a few goals for themselves and for the paper. From bettering our grades to writing more stories, each New Year’s Resolution is an opportunity for us to grow as individuals, and learn about ourselves along the process. Not all of our writers are represented below.

Penda Smith– I need to do better in school. I need to get my grades up there because I’ve been slacking. I’ve been really distracted with other extracurriculars and I think I put too much on myself at the same time.

Nazhaya Barcelona– I need to do better in school and to be a better person and to develop myself for the person I want to be in the future because college is right around the corner. I want to write more stories and put more of my personal work into the school newspaper.

Yeritza Mejia– I have a lot of resolutions this year. For the newspaper, I really want to finish this novel I just started because I’m very excited about it. I want to do one chapter monthly in  Spanish and English. I need to keep my grades up. I need to manage my time. I want to lose weight and eat healthier. I want to be the best I can for the newspaper and for the Spanish RamPage.

Benny Ogando– My New Year resolution is to hit 200 pounds. For the paper, I want to write as much as I can about interesting stuff to get people thinking,

Cristianel Gil– I will send pictures for the paper to Beverly on time, and take more pictures. I want to have more ambition.

Cesay Camara– I want to write more personal stories instead of just doing only interviews. Personally, I just want to be a better me.

Priyata Richy– My New Year’s resolution is to not have a New Year’s resolution. Every time people have a New Year’s resolution, they end up not actually fulfilling it which is kind of weird. I have a new semester goal, which is to do all of my homework. For the paper, I want to meet all the deadlines because I’m a procrastinator and to challenge myself to write stories out of my comfort zone.

Domingo Fortuna– My new year’s resolution is to communicate more with my readers, and to get to the point where my stories serve as a lesson. I want to learn how to twerk, I can’t twerk.

Cha-Dasia John– To go out of my comfort zone and  not only write what I know I can write really well but to try to do other things. For myself, I would like to make my average grade higher.

Roberta Nin Feliz– To write catchy ledes!, My resolution for myself is to smile more.

Mariama Bah– To eat healthier. To improve my grades because they’re going down before my eyes. I want to write more stories. Not only ones that I like, but stories I think other people would like. I would like to get an experience of other things instead of staying in my comfort zone.

Beverly Danquah– I want to be more independent. I’ve relied on my brothers and parents all my life for emotional, financial and other types of support in my life, but going into college this fall, I want to be able to sustain myself. I’d also like to be a better teacher. As I’m great when it comes to learning and absorbing information, I’d love to educate others and utilize what I learn positively. For the paper, I’d like to encourage the writers and maintain page views of 70+ every day.
