On April 6, 2015, “See You Again” by Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth was released on YouTube. Since then, the song has reached over 55,000,000 views within 2 weeks. The track has become a huge hit. This song broke two records on Spotify. First the song had 21.9 million streams from April 6 to 12, then broke yet another record on April 13, when the song had over 4.2 million streams in just one day. The song has also become number one on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was written as a tribute to Paul Walker, an actor who died due to a car crash in 2013. The song’s lyrics recall the journey that Walker’s character took throughout the seven Fast and Furious films, when he played Brian O’Conner in the Fast and Furious movie series. The song was part of the Furious 7 soundtrack, made for the most recent–and probably the last–movie of the series.
The track is touchingly beautiful, and it really hits listeners with complex layers of emotional feeling. Wiz Khalifa wrote very significant, meaningful lyrics; and Charlie Puth’s rich, gorgeous voice just makes you want to melt. Although I personally have not seen the movies, I felt like the song and the music video really captured the friendship, brotherhood, and love that is present within the cast and the movies. You don’t need to see the movies to understand that. It’s plainly obvious in the music video. It made me want to watch the movies, and I think it will influence many other people who haven’t seen the movies to watch them as well. The song’s sound appeals to many kinds of people. It has rap, soul, pop. . . a little bit of everything I suppose. The song made me cry and made many other people cry as well. I guarantee that even the toughest people will probably shed a tear or two after they hear it. “See You Again” is a song that I know I won’t forget, for it has definitely become one of my favorites now. The song is so memorable and special that everyone should definitely give it a listen. I guarantee you will not regret it.
