My name is Deborah Robinson.
I am a senior at MCSM, and I first joined the newspaper staff in September 2015, the beginning of my Junior year. As a staff reporter my main interests were writing about anything I was given to write. I didn’t have a specific thing that I liked to write about so I was given assignments that had to do with news reporting. As one of your new Editors in Chief I am interested in seeing more articles about your interests and what’s going on in the world.
Attendance at weekly newspaper meetings is mandatory for club members unless editors are notified in advance by text or email. During meetings we will discuss story ideas, current events, and writing styles. The best ways and times to contact me about newspaper business are my email [deborahrobinson307@gmail.com] and my cell: (917) 753-7181. As our faculty adviser, Ms.Cooper will supervise final edits and weekly meetings. Writers having trouble with stories, pictures or edits can always consult with her via email.
My hopes for the Rampage in the coming year are to have several more serious writers so we can have more articles on our website and to have more people reading what you all are writing. New columns and features I hope to bring into the paper include poetry, advice, etc. I especially want to encourage people who are not regular members of the newspaper club to submit their poetry (anonymously if they are too shy to have their name published); and I want students to be able to submit serious questions to us, so they can get helpful advice if they need it. Finally, one thing I also hope to see this year is more opinion pieces. I look forward to making the Newspaper Club both fun for writers and educational for readers.
Hey there!
My name is Haby Sondo. My family originates from Burkina Faso, a landlocked country in Francophone West Africa. I have grown up around African culture my entire life–from dance to languages to music and traditions. I love anything and everything that has to do with learning about a continent of people, my people, who pride themselves in the beauty of Africa’s culture and ethnic diversity.

If you find solace in expressing yourself on paper, or have a story you want to tell, feel free to join the Newspaper Club!
