“Inktober”
Inktober was an art challenge that was created by Jake Parker in 2009. It takes place during the month of October, hence “Inktober” blends a clever combination of meanings.
The challenge consists of 31 drawing prompts, one for each of the 31 days in October. The graphic medium used is ink, and by practicing with this challenge, one can become better at inking. Thus, “Inktober” celebrates drawing, creativity and self-improvement. The prompts used in the Official Inktober, offer themes which each artist can interpret in their own way. This challenge really sparks the imagination. In fact, many artists also make their own lists, like Elentori with #Elentober2018.
Despite there being 31 prompts, one does not have to do a drawing every day. A smaller goal can be set. The point isn’t to stress out, but to be inspired. Simple black ink is primarily used, as it is a common ink, as well as the fact that it follows the major holiday theme of October, whose colors are primarily orange and black. But as you can see in the examples below, other colors can always be added.
