Every year, Manhattan Center seniors have the opportunity to run for student body president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer, and council member. This year, of course, the election was done differently. Students had the opportunity to nominate themselves through a Google form sent by Mr. Kwan. On December 1st, students running for president and vice president were required to attend a meeting to speak about their future plans for MCSM. Below you can find the nominations of president and vice-president, and takeaways from their presentations.
Patricia Ann Boyd- Presidential Candidate
- Students should have a voice in their education
- Wants to be a bridge between students and staff
- Create role for underclassmen in Student Council
- Increase emphasis on clubs
Maame Brookman- Presidential Candidate
- Include underclassmen into the council
- Improve college support for seniors
- Wants transparency with the school and students
Kayla Drew- Presidential Candidate
- Has an excellent academic record
- Is a good communicator and wants to encourage better communication throughout the school to promote togetherness
- Plans to conduct virtual events for seniors
Fatoumata Drammeh- Presidential Candidate
- Understands issues facing the school given this time
- Wants to help students with their workload
- Encourages students to take advantage of the school’s mental health services
Lewis Rodriguez- Presidential Candidate
- Wants to improve the college process
- Wants bi-weekly mental health check-ins for students
- Wants to plan Zoom activities for seniors
Tahmin Zahid- Vice-President Candidate
- Nice and kind person
- Academically qualified
- Willing to compromise on school decisions given our current circumstances
Isaiah Munden- Vice-President Candidate
- Wants to include underclassmen in Student Council
- Make the school more sociable (more emphasis on clubs) to improve the school community

- Create a foundation to improve the school
- Improve communication between between students and faculty

After the meeting, a Google form was sent out to vote for the following candidates. In the end, the voices of the students were heard. Below you can find out who was elected to be our new (2020-2021) student body presidents, vice-president, secretary, treasurer and council members.
