“Does it Regret?”
By: Kaya Miller
Do you think the snake regrets its bite?
Or a hawk cries at its talons,
Filled with the bits and pieces of its prey?
Do you ever wonder how the lion consoles itself at night?
How the flower continues to grow knowing its leaf can kill?
I would.
Does a vampire sob in your neck?
Does a toad hide underground,
Feeling it’s venomous ooze singe and paralyze?
Do you ever visualize watery eyes in the night, watching its food graze on the grass?
How a mantis loves knowing the end?
I would.
