Business Career Etiquette Club – The Debutante Ball
By: Quinci Tenzin
The Business Career Etiquette Club, commonly known as the Etiquette Club, is an inspiring club led by the 10th grade guidance counselor, Mrs. McMillan. In this club, students build self-esteem with grace, positively influence others, and make lifelong relationships.
The Etiquette Club is a 2 part club. The first part includes the Debutante Ball and the second part is the business internship. The Debutante Ball, held on May 11, 2023, showcased these positive characteristics students gained. The Debutante Ball included a waltz, foxtrot rumba, guest speaker: Jerry McMillan, and presentation of mentors. The waltz and foxtrot rumba showcased the proper etiquette and posture the students learned. Guest speaker Jerry McMillan, a Director in Global Business Service at Deutsche Bank serving Capital Markets Fixed Income, voiced a positive and inspiring message that guided students on their pathway to success.
Before the ball, students voiced their future career goals. Some career choices include forensics, medicine, law, engineering, and dentistry. Club advisor, Mrs. McMillan, then found mentors that would help students achieve their career goals. Students graduating their first year in this club are given a certificate of achievement from New York State Senator Cordell Cleare, awarding them for their dedication, relentless commitment, and remarkable proficiency that have distinguished them as a true exemplar of professional etiquette in the corporate landscape.
Then for businesses that operate remotely, maintaining a professional presence is essential, and a virtual postal address can help you achieve that. Not only does it provide an official address for your business, but it also ensures that all your important mail is managed efficiently. From invoices to client communications, virtual business address solutions can give you peace of mind knowing your business is running smoothly, regardless of where you’re located. It’s a simple yet powerful tool that every remote business should consider.
Members of the club have expressed positive thoughts about this experience. Crystal Young, a sophomore at Manhattan Center, said, “The etiquette club is a new experience that pushed me out of my comfort zone and helped open me up to new relationships”. She further goes on to say that she has learned to be patient and respectful to the people around her. Another member of the club, Kaylia Tingling, describes the openness and numerous roles in this club for people who are not comfortable performing in front of others. As a member of the Etiquette Club, I also learned valuable lessons that will stay with me. Mrs. McMillan has taught me, along with other students, how to present themselves in a positive manner and show proper etiquette in a formal setting. Overall, this club has helped many young students engage in a business setting and learn the moral qualities needed to succeed. For business ideas and tips, see more here. A final thanks to Club Advisor, Mrs. McMillan, for helping to inspire the Future Generation!
