POETRY: “I’m Sleepy”

By NadeSama (Amina)

It’s late,
I’m tired
I’m sleepy
I’m done
Yet I can’t close my eyes

I want a hug
To be put to bed, or even a friend to call me to pass time so I can grow sleepier
Usually someone would do that, but now he’s busy
So I’m just here
Waiting for him because he helps…
I’m tired

I’m looking at the ceiling
It’s high
Wonder what would happen if I fell from that height
Would anyone care?
I doze, I’m sleepy

This blanket hugs me like a person, keeping me warm
This pillow I hug, like a person, there for me—
I’m not lonely—
I’m sleepy
But i can’t sleep.

I’m tired
I’m sick of it
So I’ll let it go
I won’t be attached
Everything will be okay,
Not normal, but okay,
I’m tired
I’m okay

These pillows support me
Push me up when I’m being too hard on myself
Remind me to let go
Remind me that things will change
They’re soft
I’m tired
I’m sleepy
