Finish your food mama said
I swallow my pride
Like saliva down my throat
Into a pit of opinions that if brought up will only cause arguments ” a girl my age” should not encounter
A pit, suppressing thoughts of a person i wish i could be
Disagreements because the thought of you raising your voice
Referring to me as a disrespectful child
A child
A child
I swallow my pride because my opinions will never one up yours
I swallow my pride because I don’t have a say not even in my own life
I swallow my feelings
Because my feelings do not make sense to you
I swallow my thoughts because my thoughts are always wrong
I swallow my opinion because yours is always superior
I feel full
but why isn’t my plate empty.
