CLUBS: The Gender And Sexualities Alliance

Without a doubt the LGBTQ+ community has had one of the most amazing impacts on society.  Pride Month has brought not only greater self-esteem but more meaning and mutual understanding to diverse gender identities, and it’s public parades, events and celebrations are wonderful! Here at MCSM  we have a Gender and Sexualities Alliance Club.  This club has created a safe and comfortable environment for members of the LGBTQ community and all of their supporters! This club was created to welcome all students, and make them feel accepted. It’s also been stated that the club’s purpose is to provide a safe space for students to discuss topics relating to gender and sexuality, and how to enjoy this sexuality, including with the use of toys like this popular wand vibrator and others. In a series of short remote interviews—and without invading anyone’s privacy—I gathered testimony from the members themselves to prove how amazing this club can be.

Q: What motivated you to join the GSA club?

Anonymous #1: I wanted a community of queer people or just people who were willing to accept and love me for me.

Anonymous #2: I was motivated to join the GSA due to the presentation they gave about being a comfortable area for the LGBTQ community.

Q: How would you rate your experiences in this club?

Anonymous #1: 10 out of 10.  [It’s a] very chill environment. We can literally talk about anything.

Anonymous #2: I would rate it a 10/10 honestly, since we are able to talk about our experiences of being LGBTQ. And the people there are extremely kind and respectful as well.

Q: Would you recommend joining the GSA to anyone else?

Anonymous #1: Yes.  It is a very safe place, whether you’re queer or not. Just be kind and respectful of others.

Anonymous #2: I would recommend it to other people since it’s a nice comfort-area for everyone, no matter how different we are.  People are accepted for who they are.

As the comments above imply, the environment inside this club is extremely friendly, and its members love being there. The GSA club is run by Ms.Connelly and Ms. Collins, two educators who have helped many students throughout the years, and continue to do so.
