POETRY: “Past the Storm”

By
Sandra Perez

The stars have abandoned their home.

The moon now a shadow of its past, hides behind silver clouds

Lighting races across a blank space

Below, where water stops being water, is the finish line.

Both meet briefly, sending shock waves to all that is near.

Moments later—grumbles from the sky are listened to…

Raging mad they continue to growl with hostility

As time moves forward they disappear from sight and sound.

The moon appears, illuminating the path for stars who have lost their way.

All is right in the vast universe once again.
